Jennie’s ‘Ruby’ Selected as One of the Best Albums of 2025 by Rolling Stone and Complex

On June 5, the renowned American music magazine Rolling Stone included Jennie (BlackPink)‘s debut solo studio album Ruby in its list of “The Best Albums of 2025 So Far,” published on its official website.

Rolling Stone praised Ruby, stated:
The quick-moving Ruby leans heavily into the ideas that dominated R&B-leaning pop in the ’00s and ’10s, sometimes updating them in intriguing fashion. If there’s any artist whose specter hangs over the album, it’s Rihanna. Not only does Jennie have an impressive ability to command the center of candy-coated pop-R&B, there are some moments that feel like if not direct at least second-generation descendants of the hazy introspection shown by the Barbadian mogul on her 2016 classic Anti.
Similarly, the American outlet Complex also named Ruby one of the “Best Albums of 2025,” noted:
Ruby marks a new chapter for Jennie. Not only is it her debut solo album, it’s also her first release since parting ways with K-pop powerhouse YG Entertainment. Ruby puts Jennie’s range of sound on full display. Tracks like “Like Jennie” are catchy pop perfection, showcasing the artist’s verified performance abilities, while ballads like “Twin” display a softer, more vulnerable side and prove her vocal capabilities. Beyond the music, Jennie released seven music videos for this album—high-production, high-fashion, and visually striking. You’d expect nothing less from someone coming from the K-pop industry.

Notably, Jennie was the only K-pop artist to be featured on both Rolling Stone and Complex’s “Best Albums of 2025” lists, reaffirming her significant global influence.
Meanwhile, Ruby is an album featuring 15 tracks across diverse genres, including the title track “Like JENNIE.” Jennie took on the role of producer, infusing the album with her unique identity and boundless musical potential.
